Juried Exhibition Call for Entries

The Southeast Chapter of the Guild of Book Workers is very pleased to announce a call for entries for an exhibition. Please read the following information and we hope to see your entries soon!

Juried Exhibition Call For Entries

Eligibility: The Southeast Guild of Book Workers (SEGBW) is pleased to invite all book artists working and living in the Southeastern United States, as well as all SEGBW and BookWorks Co-op members, to enter the exhibition. The exhibition will be held at BookWorks in Asheville, NC January 5–February 24, 2012.

Award: A Best In Show award of $100.00.

Juror: Laurie Corral is founder / director of Asheville BookWorks, Asheville, NC. In 2004, with a few pieces of equipment in a raw warehouse space, Asheville BookWorks was born. It is home to a vibrant book arts community, where learning and discourse is fostered through classes, exhibits, co-op projects, artists-in-residence; sharing in common an intense appreciation of creativity, print and book arts. Laurie has degrees from West Virginia University, University of Illinois and Cranbrook Academy of Art.

Size Limitations: Space is limited. Due to case size and exhibition space, work may not exceed 18” in any direction.

Submission Requirements: All structures of artists’ books, one of a kind or limited editions are eligible. Eligibility is open to all book artist living in the Southeast United States, as well as all SEGBW and BookWorks Co-op members.

Fee per Artist: $20.00 for SEGBW and BookWorks Co-op members, $30.00 for non-members. Artists may submit up to two (2) works of art completed within the last two years.

Up to 3 images are allowed of each work. One full and 2 details. Images should be high quality jpgs, with maximum size of 1500 pixels in any direction. File name must include the artist’s last name followed by the title, i.e. name000.title.jpeg (please abbreviate to a maximum of 10 characters for your name and 8 for the title).

Check or money order will be accepted. Make them out to SEGBW. You will not be considered entered until the fee arrives and you are notified that your entry was received.

Delivery of Accepted Work: If accepted, artist is responsible for cost of shipping to and from exhibition. All work needs to be at BookWorks by December 14, 2013.

Insurance: Works entered and accepted for exhibition at Asheville BookWorks are protected for fire, water damage and theft. On the entry form please include an insurance value for your work. Please note maximum insurance per work is $250.00.

Conditions: SEGBW reserves the right to refuse any work which differs from the images submitted. Artworks may not be substituted for another work during the run of the exhibition and no works may be picked up prior to the end date of the exhibition.
